The opportunity

We are seeking a strategic Director, People Operations to lead our HR, culture and workplace experience teams. The Director, People Operations will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting programs and initiatives that enhance employee engagement, foster a positive company culture, and support the growth and development of our team members. 

What you’ll do

  • HR Strategy Development: Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the HR team to ensure alignment with the company’s mission and business objectives.
  • Performance Management: Oversee effective performance management processes, including performance reviews & appraisal, goal setting, coaching, feedback, and professional development plans.
  • Employee Engagement & Experience: Champion an inclusive and empowering work environment. Develop and manage employee programs that foster professional growth, engagement, and overall well-being.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Drive initiatives to promote diversity, equity, cultural sensitivity and inclusion throughout the organization. Establish metrics to measure progress and hold the company accountable for its commitments.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Oversee the design and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs.
  • Employee Relations: Act as a trusted advisor to employees and leadership, providing guidance on HR matters and conflict resolution. 
  • Compliance: Ensure HR practices comply with all relevant laws and regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and best practices.

What we’re looking for

  • 8+ years of broad People Operations (HR) experience with progressive advancement, including at least 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Experience leading and building People Operations teams with prior success improving the effectiveness of cross-functional leadership teams in  high-growth startups.
  • Functional expertise across the full spectrum of People Operations functions; strong business acumen and ability to enable the business through People Operations practices, processes, and structure. 
  • Proficiency with tools such as Paylocity, Lattice, Greenhouse, VicTig, Zip, Google Suite, or comparable platforms
  • Leverage data insights and use cases to drive decision-making. Identify and measure OKRs for the People team to deliver aligned results. 
  • Expertise in designing and managing competitive total rewards programming including base and variable compensation, benefits, workplace experience and perks in the tech industry.
  • Experience building and executing change management strategy, including identifying sponsors, developing training programs, managing through resistance, tracking progress and identifying success measures.  
  • Advise the senior leadership team on relevant compliance and employment law and go beyond best practice to protect the organization and its employees. 
  • Exceptional people management skills. Can engage, motivate and build a high-performance team. You’ll provide leadership and coaching to a distributed team of managers, specialists and generalists in a wide cross-section of people ops expertise.

Pay Transparency

Salary for this role:

SF: $218,000 – $230,000

The cash compensation above includes base salary, and is not reflective of potential commission for employees in eligible roles, or annual bonus targets under Route’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all Route employees are eligible to participate in Routes equity incentive plan to receive stock options per the terms of the agreement. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including their career level, skills, experience, specific geographic location qualifications and other job-related reasons.
